Returning From Near Death
Sooo… I haven’t sent one of these e-zines out in a while. Some of you follow me on Facebook. For those who do not, below is a very brief description of what transpired since November of last year.
As you know, the auto-immune disease I was born with had wreaked so much havoc on my liver, that it became critical that I receive a new one. We did not know how much time I had left, but I could feel it in my body and I could see that it wasn’t long.

On November 22 of 2025, I received a phone call alerting me that a suitable liver had been found. On November 23, they wheeled me into the operating room. The surgeon looked me in the face and told me to imagine the most beautiful place in the world. I could have said Hawaii, the Bahamas, Paris. No. For me, the most beautiful place in the world was right here, in Colorado.
The initial surgery was 18 hours long. There were severe complications as scar tissue from multiple abdominal surgeries had cemented itself into my abdominal cavity. It had to be severed to access the liver, but every time they did, blood would gush out, as these scar tissues developed their own artillerial structure. Apparently, I needed 50 pints of blood.
Following the surgery, I was on life-support and an induced coma, as they waited for my body to heal a little before putting me back under for a wash-out procedure to clean up all of the excess blood.

Where does that leave me now?
Well, I’m still recovering. The doctors told me to add one week for every day hospitalized. Since I was hospitalized for a total of 45 days, we are looking at September to be fully recovered. I’m aiming to beat that.
I’m still very weak. I have about three hours of good energy per day before I completely crash. I’m dealing with symptoms due to the heavy anesthetics I was put on, which is frustrating and challenging. I can’t work full time, so I’ve devoted what energies I have to working on my Perspective Book.
Wait, what, your perspective book? Yes! It’s really coming along and if I can keep up this pace, it should be complete in a few months. For those of you who subscribed just for that book, you are in luck! Details in subsequent e-zines.
I knew this letter would get long. How could it not? I hope to resume sending these out again. I hope to once again entertain you with stories, art tips, and adventures.
